If you aren’t already familiar with Callum Drage, then you are the target audience.
CD’s CD is Callum Drage’s latest release which aims to not just to express himself, but also to bring listeners along for the ride. This deeply personal work places the listener front and centre in a musical inspired journey that bridges multiple genres and leaves you wanting a full stage adaptation of the album.
Each track carries its own message and vibe, here are a few of my highlights:
Seventeen; a Broadway-esque song about waking up to yourself and playing by your own rules.
The soulful piano-driven instrumental Music Immortalised; admittedly I wasn’t expecting an instrumental number!
(is it still instrumental if there are vocal elements??)Socially inquisitive entries like Moving Directions; a track that waves a flag saying “hey, we’re all human, lets just do our best!”.
My personal favourite entry to the album, Warned You, particularly with the dramatic minor blues climax of the song.
This album is certainly a party mix of genres and themes, and leaves the listener with a sense of what’s important to Callum; as well as some of the moments in life that have shaped his journey. All in all it’s certainly worth listening to and I really look forward to what Callum has in store for us next.
